Helping Bedfords to help you choose your workbenches

To help us find the most appropriate and cost effective workbench for you, please bear the following in mind:

  • Quantity required for the working area available
  • Delivery area - If for a quantity of workbenches, ascertain that all workbenches are to be delivered to a single site in a single consignment.
  • Workbench size Height mm (working height of work surface), Length mm (left to right), Depth mm (front to back)
  • Work type / application - One of the most important aspects of our information search is to find out exactly what the workbench is being used for and  in what environment the workbench is been used. From this information the duty or weight capacity can be established, also the worktop type and thickness can be gauged.
Workbench worktop types include:
  • Steel - powder coated, galvanised, untreated, 2mm or 3mm thick, composite core with steel covering
  • Stainless Steel - 304 quality or 316 for clean room
  • Plastic laminate or vinyl - ideal if the surface of the workbench is to be wiped clean
  • Wood - such as MDF, Plywood, hardwood veneer or solid hardwood planks
  • Anti-static options including anti-static laminate or rubber
  • Specialist worktops - can include Trespa worktops which are a solid laminate used in laboratories.
  • Also available is hard wearing industrial marmoleum & oil resistant rubber

Now we know the delivery area, quantities required, sizes, application, environment, and worktop thickness

and type for the workbenches we can now look at the following: -

  • Accessories required for the workbenches such as below the worktop storage, electrics etc.
  • Below the worktop - Cabinet, drawer or base shelf
  • On the worktop - Vice plates
  • Above the worktop - electrical services ducts, overhead light bar, back panels and upper shelves.
