In 2006 we embarked on developing a brand new mobile baby camera unit to house our unique proof-on-the-day digital photographic system, incorporating a cradle area, housing for a laptop and printer, and an overhanging professional camera and flash unit. The unit had to be safe and practical for use with newborn babies, suit the needs and restrictions of a busy maternity ward, and fulfil the technical requirements of a mini photographic studio.
With a clear idea of what we wanted, we approached designers, engineers and photographic manufacturers, but no-one seemed to match our enthusiasm or vision. Fortunately we found James Bedford & Co during an internet search, and following an encouraging initial telephone call, decided to visit them.
Our visit was greeted by an intrigued team lead by Technical Sales Manager, Keith Robinson. Their enthusiasm and can-do attitude was reassuring from the start, and was matched by their practical design suggestions, such as a revolutionary new antibacterial coating to inhibit the growth of bacteria, and obvious technical expertise.
Since then, Keith and the team have steadfastly supported the project, sourcing unusual components, researching technical specifications, and rising to every challenge.
Baby’s First Portrait will be launching the new digital baby camera units later this summer and James Bedford & Co have worked with us at every step to help turn an initial concept into a reality, developing what promises to be an exciting and innovative ‘first’ for both parties!
